Ochs established The Michael Ochs Archives in 1977. The Archives houses millions of photographs of musicians as well as film, television and political personalities from the turn of the century to present day.
Among the Archivesâ vast resources are the complete photographic works of famed photographers James Kriegsmann, Don Paulsen, Richard Creamer and Earl Leaf as well as all the negatives and transparencies shot for Laufer and Charlton Publicationsâ classic magazines Hit Parader, Tiger Beat, Right On, Song Hits and Rona Barrettâs Hollywood.
From his collection, Ochs has produced six books: Rock Archives; Elvis In Hollywood; Marilyn: March, 1955; Shock, Rattle & Roll; Marilyn Monroe: From Beginning To End; and 1,000 Record Covers. In addition to his consulting services, Ochs taught a music history extension course at the University of California, Los Angeles and hosted his Archives Alive radio show on KCRW.
