Woody Guthrie Archives

Below is the finding aid that contextualizes and inventories this special collection at the Woody Guthrie Center Archives. Interested researchers must fill out an application prior to scheduling an appointment with the archivist.

The Woody Guthrie Archival Collection

The Woody Guthrie Archives is a collection of primary resource materials (primarily unpublished) largely gathered by Guthrie’s second wife, Marjorie Mazia, and his manager, Harold Leventhal. The collection has grown extensively in the last 20 years, from it’s origin, and then from it’s official  launch as research collection in Mt. Kisco, New York. Many scholars, artists, collectors, collaborators, curators, archivists and private donors have contributed to the growth of this collection over the years.

This is the heart of our research archives. Due to its size, continuous accessions, and the nature of this collection, it is an artificially constructed collection that continues to grow. Please use the guides below to help you in your search and contact the archivist with any questions.
