Film Screening – Woody Guthrie: Three Chords and the Truth

Film Screening – Woody Guthrie: Three Chords and the Truth

Our Sixth Anniversary Celebration continues with this special screening of the new BBC documentary Woody Guthrie: Three Chords and the Truth in the WGC Theater. The event will begin at 6:30pm with a small reception in our lobby, the film screening at 7pm, and a discussion with Will Kaufman and Todd Austin after the film. The admission for the reception and Q&A is $10 and $7 for WGC members.  Call 918-574-2710 to reserve your spot.

Woody Guthrie is one of America’s legendary songwriters. A voice of the people, he wrote hard-hitting lyrics for a hard-hit nation.

The conventional image is of the “Dust Bowl Troubadour” emerging out of a box car, but there is much more to Woody Guthrie.

He is proof that there is always potential for change and even today, fifty years after his death, he is challenging the status quo from beyond the grave.

With enormous influence on successive generations of musicians like Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Joan Baez and Billy Bragg this film proves he has a true place in 21st Century culture.

This film unearths a previously unheard Guthrie recording of one of his most famous songs, and reveals rare and unseen archive.
