Join us at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 3, during the First Friday Art Crawl for a reading from local poet and artist Quinn Carver Johnson. Their debut poetry collection, “The Perfect Bastard” (Curbstone Press, 2023) is a narrative exploration of gender, sexuality and class all staged in the colorful world of Midwestern professional wrestling.
In addition to their own original poetry, Carver Johnson will also be discussing the artistic tradition of collectivism, drawing from a variety of sources and mediums, including Woody Guthrie, Carl Sandburg, John Steinbeck, Carlos Cortez, Dusty Rhodes, Akira Toriyama and more across poetry, folk music and union posters.
