Woody Guthrie Center 10th Anniversary Sponsorships:

The Woody Guthrie Center is proud to announce the upcoming celebration of its 10th anniversary. The community is invited to share in an unforgettable weekend filled with music, art and community as the center honors the legacy of the legendary American folk singer and activist Woody Guthrie.

The Woody Guthrie Center, located in Tulsa, Oklahoma, was established in 2013 to preserve and promote Woody’s music and message of social justice. Over the past decade, the center has become a hub for artists, activists and scholars from around the world who come to experience the exhibits, concerts, workshops and events that celebrate Woody Guthrie’s life and work.

“To mark this milestone, we have planned an exciting weekend of festivities, including live performances by renowned musicians, panel discussions with experts on Woody’s impact and much more,” said Cady Shaw, director of the Woody Guthrie Center. “Whether you are a longtime fan of Woody or are discovering his music for the first time, this weekend promises to be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to celebrate his enduring legacy and connect with like-minded individuals from all walks of life.”

The weekend will include a VIP event at a Tulsa Drillers game; performances by the Secret Sisters, Margaret Glaspy, Jonatha Brooke, Jake Xerxes Fussell and Hot Toast; and panels with the Woody Guthrie Faculty Teaching Collective, Anna Canoni, Ramblin’ Jack Elliott and Aiyana Elliott.

Woody Guthrie Center is seeking event sponsors to honor the legacy of Woody Guthrie and his contributions to American folk music. Sponsorships provide a memorable experience for attendees and help the center continue to preserve and promote Woody Guthrie’s legacy for generations to come.

Woody Guthrie Prize Sponsorships:

The Woody Guthrie Center®️ is proud to announce Russian feminist protest and performance art group Pussy Riot as the recipient of the 2023 Woody Guthrie Prize. Join us for a special evening honoring the punk rock collective’s bravery in speaking truth to power, echoing Woody Guthrie’s own messages opposing racism, fascism and economic exploitation. The evening will feature an award ceremony, an interview with the collective and a public performance at Cain’s Ballroom.

“We believe Pussy Riot continues in the footsteps of Woody Guthrie: A champion for the people; a fighter for justice; a voice for human rights,” said Cady Shaw, director of the Woody Guthrie Center. “In its tireless work for social change, Pussy Riot uses art as a catalyst to challenge powerful tyrants and systems of oppression around the world. The collective’s willingness to risk their own personal safety to take a stand makes them among the most courageous and admirable activists of contemporary times.”

The Woody Guthrie Prize is given annually to an artist of any medium who exemplifies the spirit and life work of Woody Guthrie by speaking for the less fortunate through music, film, literature, dance or other art forms and serving as a positive force for social change.
