Join us for a members-only preview of “Love Saves the Day,” an exploration of how the oft-maligned disco genre became a groundbreaking and joyous social movement.
“The 1970s dance floor became a site of actualization for liberatory politics and progressive social structuring; a real place where democratic, cross-cultural exchange could transcend possibility and become a new reality,” said co-curator Tim Lawrence. “Through ‘Love Saves the Day,’ we invite visitors to think again about the meaning of that space and time and the ways in which current cultural experiences bind our humanity.”
Toast to this original exhibit and be the first to engage with this exploration of the socially and sonically progressive developments forged in New York’s downtown dance floors and the DJs who drove those spaces.
