“Woody, Pete, and Lead Belly: Folk Roots and Current Events”
As part of the WGC 6th Anniversary Celebration, we will be bringing in scholars from around the world for a two-day symposium. This event will be held in the WGC Theater. Tickets for each day are $15, or $25 for to attend for both days, with discounts for members. Ticket link to be posted soon!

Current Events and Relevance

10am – 10:00 – Ron Cohen (Folk music scholar) with Michael Chaiken (Curator of the Bob Dylan Archive) – “Bob Dylan and Folk Music”

11am – Mark Fernandez, Gustavus Stadler, Stephen Petrus (Woody Guthrie scholars and historians) – “This Machine Still Kills Fascists: Woody Guthrie and Contemporary Activism”

12pm – Will Kaufman (Woody Guthrie scholar and author) – “Woody and Old Man Trump”

1pm – Joe Klein (Author, journalist) – “How Did Woody’s People—the Okies, the factory workers—Become Donald Trump’s Base?”
