Discovering Country Music

October 22, 2021 8:30-9:30am

WGC_Disc Country Music_Sq

Join the discussion of country music’s origins with the Indian Music Experience and our Executive Director, Deana McCloud. There is a popular belief among people that country music began with the cowboys singing campfire songs out on cattle drives. But its true beginnings are far older and more diverse. This conversation will also include information on American folk music and Woody Guthrie’s journey with country music. The session will also cover some songs and themes that dissolve international boundaries and build bridges between cultures.
