MUSIC, ART AND FOOD
The Cain’s Ballroom will play host to an exclusive screening of The Last Waltz, by Martin Scorsese. The Last Waltz documents The Band’s final performance at the Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco, California on Thanksgiving day, 1976. Scorsese’s camera explores and captures the emotions and interactions of the artists on stage, while offstage, his interviews with The Band’s members provide an unbelievable perspective of life on the road. With appearances by some of the most influential artists in rock n’ roll history, such as Bob Dylan and Neil Young, The Last Waltz presents an amazing look at what is considered to be one of the greatest rock n’ roll concerts of all time.
Along with the amazing music of The Last Waltz, the event will provide attendees with a very unique experience artistic experience. We invite you to join an extremely talented, Tulsa-based artist in creating an amazing collaborative piece of art throughout the night. All who attend are encouraged to add to and participate in the annual tradition of creating a piece of art that will commemorate the annual event. More details to come!
Happy Thanksgiving! Just as The Last Waltz catered Thanksgiving dinner in 1976, The Leftover Last Waltz will be providing a collaborative meal put together by some of Tulsa’s best restaurants. Stay tuned for restaurant announcements to come!
The Leftover Last Waltz is as much a celebration of The Last Waltz as it is the Tulsa community and Tulsa music (or the “Tulsa Sound”). Following that same spirit, we will be highlighting an extremely talented and dedicated, local band to perform live at The Leftover Last Waltz.
100% the money raised and the donations accepted through The Leftover Last Waltz will go directly to support and fund the education initiatives of The Woody Guthrie Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Proceeds from the event will be used to provide the youth of Tulsa with an opportunity to explore their creativity and empower them to find their own voice. Additionally, after school programs and summer music camps will be directly impacted by the proceeds generated from The Leftover Last Waltz.
