What Would Woody Be Writing About Today?
We are often asked this question, and we are positive that Woody would have many things to say about the situations that face us in today’s world. The division between the haves and the have-nots continues to grow, so we are confident he would be writing, drawing, and singing about the struggles of the working class as well as our continued struggle with civil rights and equality. Today’s political climate would also be the subject of Woody’s words. The idea of building a wall around our country would certainly go against the context of “This Land is Your Land”. Those who seek to control others through fear and anger would be further subjects for him to explore. As a social advocate who promoted equality, justice, and peace, Woody would certainly still have plenty to write about. Those who follow in his footsteps and rage against injustice are his voices today. Hopefully the day will come when those voices are no longer necessary, but until that time, we are grateful to have their truth in the world.
