We are thrilled to present the first Oklahoma Changing World Prize to Mary and Sharon Bishop-Baldwin in recognition of their work for marriage equality in Oklahoma, This award was created in order to recognize those within our state who work for social justice issues. Woody was an outspoken advocate for social justice and equality, and our mission is to continue his legacy. Equality and civil rights affect all of us because they reflect who we are as a people. With this in mind, we could think of no better receipients than Mary and Sharon.
The award ceremony is scheduled for October 11 and is the primary annual fundraiser for the Woody Guthrie Center education initiatives. Please go to our event page for further information: http://woodyguthriecenter.org/events/oklahoma-changing-world-prize/ and join us in continuing to work for social progress in the spirit of Woody Guthrie.
