Preparing for the Arrival of the Phil Ochs Collection – Collection Development

We are currently preparing for the arrival of the Phil Ochs Collection and looking for interns who would be interested in helping us with digitization and cataloging of this collection. If you are a graduate student interested in this opportunity, please contact Kate Blalack at kate@woodyguthriecenter.org.

As always, we are looking for collection materials that will enhance the research experience of our patrons and add to our overall body of intellectual and historical content. We are most grateful for donations of materials with the following subjects:

  • Politics related to the life of Woody Guthrie, the subjects and/or topics in his songs, and artistic   works
  • Original artwork/s contemporary to the life of Woody Guthrie created by Guthrie, his family, close friends and creative partners
  • Original manuscripts, photographs, media, sound recordings, correspondences, artifacts and realia created and/or used by Guthrie, his family, close friends and creative partners
  • New discoveries about historical subjects in Woody’s creative works
  • Creative works produced about Woody Guthrie, as a subject, which have enduring historical research value
  • Research and outreach about Huntington’s Disease
  • Artists and musicians who used their skills to promote social justice
